- עָדִיף, עֲדִיףm., עֲדִיפָא f. ch. (preced.) more, better, preferable. Targ. Ps. 45:3.Meg.3b מקרא מגילה ע׳ the reading of the Mgillah takes precedence; מת מצוה ע׳ the burial of a dead person without relatives (v. מִצְוָה) takes precedence.
